In cultures around the world throughout time, February 2 has signified a day of deep introspection and illumination. In the Ancient Greek world, it marked the journey of Persephone from the underworld as she brought light and hope back to Earth. In the Christian tradition, it is the day known as Candlemas, a feast in which all the candles that will be used in the church for the coming year are blessed.
On this day, we will gather together as a circle to explore the common threads between Candlemas, Persephone and the tale of Psyche and Eros as ancient roadmaps for the individuation of the Self. These are profound stories that speak to us of leaving family, of love and yearning, loss and betrayal, of learning wisdom, patience and discernment, of how to find beauty in even the darkest of places, and ultimately how to awaken transformed, united with Love, having realizes our full potential. Join us for this transformative journey as we embark on connecting these deep myths of healing and wholeness to our own lives through storytelling, art meditation, guided journaling and a powerful labyrinth ritual.
