THE ARTS AS ALCHEMY AND MUSIC AS MEDICINE: MYTHICA’S MISSION AND DREAMS
Mythica believes that music is not just entertainment- it should be the birthright of every child and the refuge of every adult. We are living in a culture that is radically cut off from the healing power of true beauty. Mythica is dedicated to restoring the soul of the world through the arts. To that end, we are launching three interconnected initiatives:
Initiative No.1: Mythica Media: Education for All Kayleen’s interdisciplinary lectures of art, music, history and philosophy will be filmed and selected segments released on you tube for FREE viewing by everyone. For 2020 (the 100th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage and the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth), Mythica Media will focus on Hidden Heroines of History and Beethoven and the Hero’s Journey. In 2021, Dante’s Divine Comedy Through the Arts will be the focus of our videos.
Initiative #2: The Mythica Guild of Young Musicians As a way of deepening their education so that music becomes a healing art, Kayleen will be mentoring a select group of young musicians in music history and music therapy. They will form the core of the Next Generation of Classical Music Lovers by posting what they learn on social media sites, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, creating a wave of new interest and excitement amongst youth. The Guild will be featured as performers at the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum for the Musical Mondays at the Museum series on Hidden Heroines: Women Composers and Artists
Initiative #3: Music as Medicine Mythica’s musicians (both Artists in Residence and the Guild of Young Musicians) will offer their dress rehearsals at senior centers, hospitals, homeless centers, mental health wards, for hospice, in schools and for housebound seniors. As part of our community outreach, we will offer Schubert on the Streets in celebration of Schubert’s birth on January 31—a free marathon of classical music in downtown Petaluma that will include performers drawn from the Santa Rosa Symphony, Sonoma State University and local music programs.
Tax deductible donations for the Alchemy of the Arts will be managed by Skyhill Cultural Alliance, our sponsoring nonprofit umbrella organization. Checks can be made payable to Skyhill , with "Alchemy" in the memo line and directed to Elizabeth Walter, Petaluma Historical Library and Museum, 20 Fourth Street, Petaluma CA 94952.
Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting this vision!
